Heat, Light & Sound
Activity Instructions
You will be required to maintain an
activity book. This book will contain
the write up for any experiments you do.
(There will usually be five of these during the semester.) It should also contain a record of any
demonstrations I do in the activity period.
Keep these in two different sections of the activity book. Number the pages and put in an index so that
I can find the write ups for the experiments and your records of the
demonstrations.
Instructions
for Writing Up Experiments
1. Put your name and the names
of any partners on your report. (Make
your name more prominent.)
2. Always indicate the units of
quantities.
3. Be NEAT
4. Use Tables when
appropriate. (Be sure to label
quantities and units.)
5. When making a graph, spread
it out to cover at least one half of the graph paper. Give the graph a descriptive title, label the
axes and indicate the units of quantities.
6. Answer the Questions. Yes or no is usually not an adequate
answer.
7. If you encounter problems or
your results do not make sense, indicate that.
8. If you calculate something,
show your work. If you calculate the
same quantities for different data sets, show at least one sample
calculation.
Instructions
for Recording Demonstrations
I
will be doing a number of demonstrations in the activity sessions. When you record these demonstrations you
should include the following.
1. State what the demonstration
illustrates.
2. Tell how the
demonstration illustrates this.
3. Explain how the
demonstration was done, including a description of what actually happened. (Drawings often help.)
