Debate Topics


These are the seven debate topics we decided on. Their number in the original list of topics is given in parentheses.
  1. (1) Despite its drawbacks, nuclear power must be pursued in the short term as a means of generating electricity.
  2. (2) Wind energy is preferable to solar energy.
  3. (3) Although expensive, the development of nuclear fusion is worth the money.
  4. (5) Energy conservation should take priority over developing any new energy resource.
  5. (6) Man made global warming is not as serious as some people make out.
  6. (7) It should be mandatory to install solar panels on the roofs of all new construction in California.
  7. (11) A major rise in the price of oil would be a good thing, since it would promote the use of more fuel efficient vehicles.
