For this class you will be meeting as a debate team, pro and con together. The goal is to

1. Decide on what there is that you could agree on. For example, had the Yucca mountain debate be one of the ones on our final list, then the two sides could agree that
1. radiation is dangerous
2. radioactive waste will need to be stored for a long time.
3. radioactive waste will need to be stored securely.
2. Decide on what there is that you can debate. Again using the Yucca mountain debate as an example the teams could debate the advantages and disadvantages of
1. storing the waste in small local facilities at each nuclear power station, with security needed at each site
2. storing the waste in a centralized facility, which is much easier to secure, but which would introduced the danger of accidents during the transportation of waste to the facility.

It will help if you can bring some ideas to share in class about what you think the issues will be, both those that you can agree on, and those that you want to debate.
